RAINDROPS

These months on sheltering in place have been confining but safe. When the pandemic first hit it was easy to say, ‘yes gotta stay home and be safe, this won’t last forever’. Back in February I really thought we would still be taking our July road trip to Oregon. February seems so long ago now with August creeping up on us and Sacramento transforming the huge vacant Arco Arena into an axillary hospital that can now be ready with a 72 hour notice. I was reading about the 1918 flu pandemic with 50 million deaths and the thing that struck me was, they couldn’t get the majority of the population to wear masks. Men especially rejected the idea as not masculine and there was a huge Ad campaign to get them on board which obviously was not that successful. True ignorance is not the absence of knowledge but the refusal to take action on it. So why do we seem so enthralled with finding intelligent life on other planets when we need to find it right here on earth first? This doesn’t mean I’m not a people person, I’m just not a stupid people person. I am now more than ever aware of a level of vulnerability I didn’t have in February. I would like to get back to the business of living without the fear of the next trip to the grocery store could be a death sentence. No one knows for sure where this is all heading but I think we all share the need for life to make sense again. Let’s just hope it happens soon. ❤️ Ro

🎼Oh it looks like raindrops, so many raindrops keep fallin’ on my head 🎼
